The stakes are high, with the winner set to receive a grand prize of $5,000 and the prestigious honor of being the featured violinist at the esteemed 20th Water Island Music Festival. Additionally, each of the three runner-ups will be awarded $2,000, adding to the competition’s allure.
Open to violinists of all nationalities, the competition invites participants aged 18 to 29 (as of Jan 14, 2024) to showcase their virtuosity on the global stage. The roster of violin finalists is nothing short of exceptional, featuring the talents of Jaewon Wee, Zach Brandon, Eunseo Oh, and Masha Lakisova.
The competition promises a unique challenge for the finalists, as they are tasked with performing one movement selected from the recently composed Violin Sonata by the acclaimed Julian Gargiulo. Adding an element of unpredictability, the four movements will be assigned randomly, ensuring a diverse and captivating display of musical prowess.
The World’s Biggest Stage Competition adopts a democratic approach to determine the winner, with a 50-50 split between audience votes (both online and those present at the final round) and a distinguished jury.
