New Bern, NC – Jazz enthusiasts are in for a musical extravaganza as Team Henry8, under the direction of James Henry and Mike Weaver Productions, prepares to host the “Grown Folks Groovin Holiday Jazz” event on Friday, December 1, at the Knights of Columbus on 1125 Pinetree Dr. The evening promises a captivating performance by saxophonist Jashaun Peele, coupled with a heartfelt tribute to the late jazz vocalist and composer, Jann White Parker.

James Henry and Mike Weaver, the creative forces behind Team Henry8, express their enthusiasm for bringing this series of shows to the local community. They are particularly delighted to honor the memory of Jann White Parker, a steadfast supporter of the local jazz scene despite her relocation from Craven County.

A New Bern native, Parker established the Jazz Preservation Society in 2003, leaving an enduring impact on the world of jazz. Her passing on February 18 this year in Harlem, NY, marked the end of a remarkable journey and added a poignant layer to the tribute planned for the event.

Saxophonist Jashaun Peele, a musical prodigy who embarked on his journey at the age of seven, currently resides in Raleigh. In addition to his role as a professor at Guilford Technical Community College, Peele wears the hat of a real estate agent. A graduate of Elizabeth City State University, Peele’s passion for jazz ensures an unforgettable experience for attendees.

The festivities commence at 8 p.m., preceded by a VIP Meet and Greet with the artist at 7 p.m. General admission tickets are available for $45, while VIP tickets, priced at $60, offer additional perks such as champagne and heavy hors d’oeuvres. Attendees can also indulge in a cash bar featuring an array of beer and wine offerings.

While this event marks the culmination of the year, Team Henry8 is already gearing up for a Valentine’s Day show on February 16 at the Knights of Columbus. The upcoming performance will showcase the talents of Billboard Top 20 saxophonist Jason Jackson, a Wilmington native. Music aficionados can anticipate another soulful and memorable evening in February, continuing the tradition of exceptional jazz celebrations.
