Renowned Jazz Trumpeter Brownman Ali and Quartet Bring “Thriller” Tour to Newmarket

by Madonna

Prepare to be enthralled at Newmarket’s Old Flame Brewery as the multi-award-winning jazz trumpeter Brownman Ali brings his Michael Jackson album tour to the local audience. Ali, along with an “all-star quartet,” will grace Newmarket on October 26 as part of their annual Halloween concert tour, which encompasses six cities. The ensemble will perform the entire Michael Jackson Thriller album, reinterpreted in an electric jazz style.

Ali notes that this material creates a dance party atmosphere while still retaining its roots in exploratory improvisation and solos. He expresses, “Delving so deeply into that record always leaves us speechless. Michael birthed so many incredible tunes over the years, but his collaborations with Quincy Jones on Thriller have to be one of the most towering musical achievements in pop music ever.”

The band, known as the Brownman Electryc Trio, is highly acclaimed. They have secured two National Jazz Awards, three Toronto Independent Music Awards for Jazz Group of the Year, a SOCAN music award, a CBC Galaxie Rising Star Award, and an International Independent Music Award for their 2015 Jazz-Funk album “Gravitation,” which reached the fourth spot on the iTunes USA jazz charts upon release.

The tour will continue with stops in Kitchener, Oshawa, Guelph, Toronto, and St. Catharines, promising an electrifying musical journey for jazz enthusiasts and Michael Jackson fans alike.
