Midland Welcomes Back Annual Ukulele Festival on March 15-16

Prepare for the return of the much-anticipated annual Ukulele Festival, fondly known as WASSUP7 (Winter Ain’t Stoppin’ Serious Ukulele Players), to Midland on March 15-16.

Organized annually by the Saginaw Ukulele Gurus And Rookies (SUGAR), this event brings a vibrant music festival to the Midland Free Methodist Church, welcoming all members of the community, whether they’re seasoned ukulele enthusiasts or simply curious about the festivities.

Johnny Hunt, the festival organizer, expressed, “We extend our invitation to everyone, regardless of whether they play the ukulele, simply enjoy music, or are eager to explore something new.” Alongside the scheduled activities, attendees can partake in impromptu group performances, participate in open mic sessions, bid on a variety of items at the silent auction, engage in ukulele workshops catering to different skill levels, and more.

Throughout the weekend, the festival agenda includes a complimentary concert on March 15 at 7 p.m., a lively ukulele flash mob scheduled for March 16 at noon in the Midland Mall, and another free concert on March 16 at 3 p.m., all hosted at the Midland Free Methodist Church.

Hunt also revealed plans for informal ukulele jam sessions set to take place on Friday and Saturday evenings at the Baymont Inn, conveniently located at 2200 Wackerly Rd. in Midland.
