The Masterclasses will focus on the ‘by ear’ method, emphasizing the development of oral/aural skills alongside instrumental competency and the expansion of core repertoire. Tailored for intermediate to advanced participants with a minimum of two years of instrumental experience, this workshop welcomes both adults and children over 10 years old.

Meet the Instructors:

1. Barry Kerr: Renowned singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and painter, Barry Kerr’s creative journey has spanned the globe. With a rich history of collaborations and solo work, Kerr brings a wealth of experience to the Masterclass.

2. Laura Kerr: Hailing from Lurgan, Co. Armagh, Laura Kerr is a highly regarded fiddle player known for her distinctive northern style. Her musical upbringing in a vibrant household and her extensive contributions to traditional Irish music make her a valuable instructor.

3. Donogh Hennessy: A guitarist, composer, and music producer, Hennessy’s notable work with artists such as Lúnasa, Sharon Shannon, Lumiere, and Seamus Begley has established him as a prominent figure in the Irish traditional and folk music scene.

4. Méabh Meir: A traditional singer and member of the four-part harmony traditional vocal group Landless, Méabh Meir brings her expertise in Ulster songs and traditional singing. Her contributions to Belfast’s traditional music scene and beyond make her an influential figure in the world of Irish folk music.
