SIBU (September 10): Local violin virtuoso, Imran Azim Iskandar, is eagerly preparing to showcase his musical prowess in front of His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah during the royal dinner at the Malay Union Club (MUC) in Kampung Bandong here tomorrow evening.

Imran, a Form Five student from SMK Bukit Assek, recently achieved international acclaim by securing a gold medal and the title of world champion in the Classical category at the World Championship of Performing Arts in Anaheim, California, United States.

Expressing his excitement, Imran said, “I was taken by surprise when I received the invitation to perform in front of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. I did not anticipate such an incredible opportunity. I am immensely proud and delighted to be granted this privilege.”

The talented violinist revealed that he has been diligently practicing during the past two weeks since receiving the invitation. However, he acknowledged the challenges of balancing his studies with his passion for music.

Imran is poised to deliver two to three enchanting performances for the royal occasion. He shared, “I will be performing ‘Seroja’ and ‘Ros Kalas’ (a medley), as well as ‘About Damn Time’ by Lizzo.”
