Strandberg Guitars, known for their innovative electric guitars, is venturing into the acoustic guitar market. The company, famous for its ergonomic designs and top-quality craftsmanship, has recently revealed plans to release a headless acoustic guitar.
Ola Strandberg, the founder of the company, shared the news during a guitar health seminar with UK-based Andertons Music. He explained that what was initially an April Fools’ joke in 2023, showing a headless acoustic guitar prototype, was actually a sneak peek of something real in the works.
“We’re working on it at the moment,” Strandberg confirmed to Guitar World. “The April Fools’ thing was a teaser. We showed an early prototype of the acoustic guitar.”
In the original prank video, Strandberg discussed how the design aimed to bring a unique resonance to the acoustic guitar by combining traditional acoustic features with modern percussive techniques. The prototype showcased two sound holes—one under the bridge and another on the upper bout—along with the headless design.
Strandberg explained that the ambiguity of the teaser was intentional. “We wanted to keep people guessing,” he said. “Was it real or just a joke? It was actually a prototype.” Fans of Strandberg guitars can now look forward to the real deal, which the company is currently developing.
