At Superbooth 2025, Erica Synths unveiled its latest innovation—the HexDrums, a hybrid drum machine that combines analog sound generation with modern performance features. Presented by Girts from Erica Synths, the HexDrums is a result of blending Hexinverter’s deep sound design capabilities with Erica Synths’ signature intuitive interface.
Designed with user-friendliness in mind, the HexDrums offers a compact and cohesive layout. The integrated sequencer supports up to 64 steps per sequence, providing musicians with the tools to create complex patterns with ease. Erica Synths has optimized the modules for streamlined performance, maintaining the most essential controls while removing Eurorack-specific CV inputs to focus on hands-on playability.
The HexDrums system includes analog sound modules alongside sample-based cymbals, forming a hybrid drum architecture that recalls the sonic versatility of Erica Synths’ earlier Perkons unit. The inclusion of a master compressor and overdrive allows for rich, dynamic sound shaping and greater tonal variety.
Additional connectivity features include individual outputs, MIDI compatibility, and USB support for future firmware updates. These features aim to integrate the HexDrums seamlessly into both studio and live performance setups.
The HexDrums is expected to be available in September 2025, with a retail price of 1100 euros, offering a powerful and flexible drum machine for electronic musicians and producers seeking a blend of analog warmth and digital precision.
