New Music School Opens in Warrington to Nurture Future Generations of Musicians

by Madonna

A new music school has launched in Warrington, thanks to the vision and dedication of a local drum teacher determined to inspire the next generation of musicians.

Stu Fagan, a self-taught drummer with nearly 18 years of teaching experience in Warrington, has officially opened Coda Music Academy on Buttermarket Street. This venture is the natural next step after the overwhelming success of his one-on-one drum lessons, which began in 2022.

“There was so much demand and a waiting list that I took on a few in the evenings,” Stu explained. “I started thinking about how I could create even more of a positive culture centred around music education.”

He continued, “I thought that the way I could deliver that and expand on it would be to open a music school where I can incorporate a number of students at the same time.”

Stu, who lives in Padgate and is 40 years old, says his goal is to not only teach music but also to contribute to the vibrant local music culture and inspire the next generation of talent in Warrington.

“I really enjoy teaching children – teaching the future generation of music,” he said. “One thing that we’re trying to do is help to keep that scene alive, help to develop that scene, and help to provide a continuation to that scene in the town.”

“We are the children of that scene and now we are trying to move that forward and keep it rich.”

Coda Music Academy offers a wide array of lessons, including drums, guitar, and singing, and caters to students from the age of six and up. Classes are available in 45-minute pair and small group sessions, and there are also options for adult learners.

For Stu, music education is about much more than just playing an instrument. It’s also about building meaningful relationships with students and their families.

“You really do form strong bonds with people,” he shared. “As well as being a mentor and teaching the instrument, I love that you become friends with the families of the people that you teach.”

“It transcends just a formal lesson. It’s such a nice subject to be involved in. I get to watch these students grow as people and essentially end up being welcomed into their family.”

Through Coda Music Academy, Stu hopes to continue building a community centered around music, creativity, and personal growth—one student at a time.
