by Madonna

A fan of the American rock duo Twenty One Pilots left concertgoers stunned after she walked away with one of the band’s drums following their performance at AO Arena in Manchester last night.

The unexpected act set off a frenzy among arena staff and fellow fans, ultimately leading to a hunt that ended at a nearby hotel, where the drum was safely returned.

A video shared on social media by user @tillitaint captured the moment. In the clip, the young woman can be seen clutching the drum and declaring, “I’m taking it!” One bystander can be heard warning, “I really don’t think you should take that,” while another shocked voice questioned, “Have I just witnessed a crime? Has she actually just stolen a drum?”

Later footage, believed to have been filmed at a hotel and posted around 9 a.m. today, showed a man speaking on the phone while holding the custom-made drum. Fortunately, the drum was ultimately reunited with the band.

Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, the Ohio-based duo behind Twenty One Pilots, are now back in possession of their equipment just in time for their upcoming London shows, which begin tomorrow.

The band’s tour account, @saxontour, which is documenting their Clancy World Tour, posted a celebratory photo of the recovered drum in the back seat of a car, captioning it: “We have the drum!!!!!! Thank you for all the tags and information. You guys rock!”

A spokesperson for AO Arena confirmed the incident, stating:

“Following a particularly interactive part of the show where the band performed on the arena floor, one of the drums was taken away by a fan. The item was quickly recovered by the venue team and has been returned safely to the tour, ready for their sold-out show in London tomorrow night.”
