Swiss musician Nickless, who began playing drums at the age of seven, has taken his craft to daring new heights—literally. In an extraordinary feat, he recently performed his song “Don’t Stop The Car” while drumming atop a flying hot air balloon as part of a promotional tour on social media.
Although he’s no stranger to drums, performing on a balloon was a first for him. This ambitious project involved extensive coordination and planning. Together with his producer, Nickless worked closely with technicians, safety personnel, and balloon companies to bring the idea to life. The drum kit was securely mounted on a circular platform on the ground, which was then attached with ropes to the balloon’s center. Nickless himself was safely harnessed to the platform to ensure his security during the airborne performance.
“We planned almost six months in advance,” Nickless revealed to blue News. “At first, it was difficult to know whether a balloon company would even go along with it.” He credits the safety experts for meticulously developing a strategy to securely attach the drum setup to the balloon.
Despite his initial nerves, the experience turned out to be unforgettable. “Once I was in the air, I was able to enjoy it and concentrate on the view and the music,” he shared.
The performance served as a spectacular finale to his social media campaign, but Nickless suggests it’s far from the last of his creative ventures. “It’s not about topping this music shoot,” he said. “We still have lots of ideas. It’s about creating something cool.”
