Declan Rice has shared that he received a special gift from music superstar Ed Sheeran—a signed acoustic guitar—in honor of his spectacular free kicks during Arsenal’s Champions League quarterfinal clash against Real Madrid.
In the home leg of the tie, Rice delivered two stunning free kicks—his first ever in a competitive match—helping Arsenal cruise to a 5-1 aggregate win over the Spanish giants. The victory secured their place in the semifinals, where they will meet Paris Saint-Germain.
Rice also featured in Arsenal’s 4-0 Premier League win against Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Sunday. Interestingly, Sheeran holds a minority ownership stake in Ipswich and his ongoing “+-=÷x” tour is the sponsor of the club’s shirt.
After the match, Rice took to Instagram to reveal the personalized gift from Sheeran. The message on the guitar made reference to a previous duet the two performed during England’s Euro 2020 campaign. It read: “Declan! You play this next time I see you, we’ll have a sing-along. P.S. killer free kicks!”
Arsenal will return to Premier League action on Wednesday when they face Crystal Palace.
