The Musical Arts Society of New Orleans (MASNO) will host its Concerto Showcase XII at 7:30 p.m. on March 22 at Roussel Hall, Loyola University New Orleans.
In the summer of 2024, MASNO organized its 29th New Orleans International Piano Competition (NOIPC). Over 200 international applicants gathered in New Orleans for a week-long competition, competing for cash prizes, performance opportunities, and recording prizes worth over $100,000.
After the rigorous competition, twelve semifinalists were chosen. The top three prizewinners were Zhu Wang (gold), Yungyung Guo (silver), and Yubo Deng (bronze). All three winners hail from China.
On March 22, MASNO will collaborate with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) for Concerto Showcase XII, featuring the top three medalists from the 2024 NOIPC. The performance will be conducted by Maestro Timothy Muffitt.
The program will showcase:
- Mozart’s Piano Concerto in B-flat Major, No. 27, with Yungyung Guo,
- Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E Minor, featuring Yubo Deng, and
- Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor, featuring Zhu Wang.
