Austrian producer and DJ Tobias Bergson is set to release his latest mesmerizing track, ‘Slowly’, featuring the captivating vocals of Barefoot. Scheduled for release on March 7 via PLAYY Records, this new offering showcases Tobias’s artistic evolution, transitioning from his signature melodic house style to an uptempo breakbeat sound.
With ‘Slowly’, Tobias introduces a fresh sonic approach, blending intricate production with Barefoot’s velvety vocals. The track is a testament to his ability to craft emotionally resonant music while exploring new musical territories.
Having established himself in the industry over the years, Tobias has released music on prestigious labels such as Universal Music Austria and Armada. His work has garnered support from notable artists including Don Diablo, Steve Aoki, and Lost Frequencies. His previous single ‘One Day’ received recognition from leading publications such as Mixmag Netherlands, Mixmag Germany, and House Music With Love, while his hit ‘Voices’ has amassed over 22 million streams on Spotify.
The inspiration behind ‘Slowly’ stemmed from a stutter-house synth Tobias discovered while working on house music. The track begins with Barefoot’s ethereal, tender vocals, layered with modulated effects that instantly draw the listener in. As the tempo shifts, intricate drum patterns and the hypnotic stutter-house synth emerge, creating a seamless blend of rhythm and emotion while maintaining a deep emotional impact.
This single masterfully balances euphoria and melancholy, allowing listeners to find their own interpretation of the music. Tobias is known for crafting immersive sonic experiences that reflect his personal artistic vision, and ‘Slowly’ is no exception.
Reflecting on the creative process, Tobias shared: “I spent a lot of time working with UK house beats during that period, and by chance, I stumbled upon this synth stutter-house sound. The sound comes from the VST plugin Hive. Altogether, it sounded really good to me. Back then, I got Simon’s contact (Barefoot) through a label. I sent him a few songs, and this one stood out to him in particular. Three days later, he sent me a rough demo, and I was blown away—I’ve rarely heard such a clear voice.”
