PRS Guitars has announced the release of the limited-edition 40th Anniversary Custom 24-08 Semi-Hollow, a new iteration of the iconic guitar that helped launch the brand in 1985. This special model retains the core specifications of the original Custom but introduces enhanced versatility with TCI pickups and EQ mini-toggle switches.
The 40th Anniversary model features a semi-hollow body, ziricote fretboard and headstock veneer, and a unique inlay package. It begins with a premium “10-top” grade figured maple top, complemented by a mahogany back and neck, and a ziricote fretboard. The combination of these woods, along with PRS’s extensive wood-drying techniques, creates a stable and resonant instrument. The semi-hollow construction enriches the tone, providing an organic and full-bodied sound, while the f-hole adds an elegant visual appeal.
The updated TCI pickups, crafted with American alnico magnets, offer a rich, musical tone reminiscent of single-coil and soapbar sounds. The dual EQ mini-toggle switches, when engaged (in the up position), act as tuned high-pass filters, cutting low-end frequencies and allowing the high frequencies to shine through for added clarity and musical highs.
Further features include a 24-fret, 25” scale length neck, “old school” bird inlays, PRS Gen III patented tremolo for smooth pitch manipulation, and Phase III locking tuners with wing buttons to ensure precise tuning and preserve sound quality.
Limited to just 300 units worldwide, this 40th Anniversary Custom 24-08 Semi-Hollow is a must-have for musicians and collectors alike. Each guitar is accompanied by a hand-signed 40th Anniversary certificate.
