Drum legend Kenny Aronoff is the latest musician to take part in an online challenge where drummers play along with a song they’ve never heard before—with the original drum track removed.
The American-born drummer boasts an impressive career, best known for his long-time work with John Mellencamp and John Fogerty. However, his resume extends far beyond that, having toured and recorded with legendary artists such as The Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, Crosby Stills & Nash, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan, Alice Cooper, Sting, Ringo Starr, and many more.
One band he has never played for, however, is the progressive rock icons Yes—until now. Brandon Toews, host of drumming platform Drumeo’s YouTube channel, challenged Aronoff to listen to Yes’s Changes from their 90125 album and then drum along to it in real time.
The challenge, built on a simple yet exciting premise, always delivers engaging and entertaining results, and Aronoff’s take on the Yes classic is no exception.
