Primus has kicked off a new video series titled Interstellar Drum Derby, which offers an inside look at the band’s extensive search for a new drummer.
The first episode, now available on YouTube, highlights the audition of drummer Rory Dolan, showcasing footage of him jamming with bassist Les Claypool and guitarist Larry “Ler” LaLonde. The episode also includes a cameo by comedian and drummer Fred Armisen.
Following the departure of longtime drummer Tim “Herb” Alexander, Primus opened an open call for drummer submissions in November. Earlier this month, the band revealed that John Hoffman had been chosen for the role.
Fans can see Hoffman in action during Primus’ upcoming Sessanta tour, where they will perform alongside Puscifer and A Perfect Circle, starting in April.
