Lauren Daigle Joins Trombone Shorty for Powerful Performance at Super Bowl LIX Pre-Game

Super Bowl LIX, broadcast live on Fox from the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9, 2025, offered fans more than just the big game—it showcased an incredible pre-game entertainment lineup, including award-winning Christian music artist Lauren Daigle.

The star-studded pre-game show celebrated the rich musical heritage of New Orleans and Louisiana, featuring Daigle, Jon Batiste, Trombone Shorty, and Ledisi. Daigle performed “America the Beautiful” alongside Grammy-winning musician Trombone Shorty, creating a powerful and emotional rendition of the classic anthem.

Speaking on Apple Music’s The Kelleigh Bannen Show, Daigle reflected on the performance, expressing her excitement to be part of such a remarkable tribute to the region’s musical legacy.

“We’re honored to work with this year’s pregame lineup to celebrate the rich musical legacy of New Orleans and the entire state,” said Seth Dudowsky, head of music at the NFL. “The Super Bowl is a rare moment to unite fans around the world, and this year’s performers will bring the energy, soul and vibrant sounds of the region to a global stage, as we kickoff Super Bowl LIX with a celebration to remember.”

Adding to the musical celebration, acclaimed artist Jon Batiste, a five-time Grammy winner and Academy Award winner, performed the national anthem. Batiste, a New Orleans native, recently released Beethoven Blues (Batiste Piano Series, Vol. 1), and composed scores for films such as Saturday Night and American Symphony.

Trombone Shorty, born Troy Andrews, joined Daigle to perform “America the Beautiful,” blending New Orleans’ signature funk, soul, R&B, and rock. Known for his deep connection to New Orleans, Shorty has released five albums, toured with major acts, and performed at prestigious events including the Grammys and the White House.

Lauren Daigle, a Louisiana native and multi-Grammy Award winner, continues to build her international reputation with her powerful voice and chart-topping hits. Her 2018 album Look Up Child debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Top 200, and her latest album has driven her worldwide streaming numbers past 1 billion.

Also taking the stage was Grammy-winning artist Ledisi, performing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Ledisi, a proud New Orleans native, is renowned for her electrifying performances and commanding vocal talent. She has earned 15 Grammy nominations and has performed at iconic venues like Carnegie Hall and The White House.

The Super Bowl pre-game entertainment also included American Sign Language (ASL) performances. Stephanie Nogueras signed “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “America the Beautiful,” while Otis Jones IV performed “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” and Matt Maxey delivered the ASL version of the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show. These ASL performances were supported by Alexis Kashar of LOVE SIGN and Howard Rosenblum of Deaf Equality.

Additionally, the NFL announced Kendrick Lamar as the headliner for the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show, produced by DPS with Roc Nation and Jesse Collins as executive producers.
