Triple-threat singer, pianist, and songwriter Tony DeSare will take the stage with the West Texas Symphony on Saturday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. The concert, titled “Tony DeSare: The Piano Show featuring Rhapsody In Blue,” will be held at the world-class Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center. The performance promises a musical journey that celebrates the legendary piano artists who have shaped pop music, culminating in a powerful rendition of Gershwin’s iconic Rhapsody In Blue. Along the way, DeSare will perform beloved songs by Billy Joel, Elton John, Journey, Ray Charles, and Jerry Lee Lewis, according to a news release.
“We are thrilled to welcome Tony back to the stage with a brand new program for the Permian Basin! A couple of years ago, during half-capacity seating and extended orchestra spacing, Tony reorchestrated his entire Sinatra program to fit our needs. That level of talent will be evident in every note of this concert. You won’t want to miss it!” said Ethan Wills, Executive Director of the West Texas Symphony.
DeSare, named a Rising Star Male Vocalist by Downbeat magazine, has earned critical and popular acclaim for his performances across North America and internationally. From intimate jazz clubs to Carnegie Hall, and even headlining in Las Vegas alongside Don Rickles, DeSare’s fresh approach to classic tunes has captivated audiences worldwide.
With four top ten Billboard jazz albums to his name, DeSare has also made notable appearances on major media platforms, including CBS Early Show, NPR, A Prairie Home Companion, and Today Show.
In addition to his success as a performer, DeSare is an accomplished, award-winning composer. He won first place in the USA Songwriting Contest and has composed music for various projects, including the theme song for the film My Date With Drew, broadcast commercials, and full soundtracks for Hallmark’s Love Always, Santa and Lifetime’s A Welcome Home Christmas.
DeSare’s upcoming performances include appearances with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Virginia Symphony, Grand Teton Music Festival, and The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall. He regularly releases new recordings, videos of jazz standards, and original pieces on his YouTube channel, Apple Music, and Spotify. DeSare is also a Yamaha Artist.
