As American rockstar Marilyn Manson once said, “Music is the strongest form of magic,” and this sentiment came alive in Visakhapatnam on the evening of January 18, 2025. Candlelight Concerts, a curated musical experience by Fever, made its enchanting debut in the city, leaving the audience spellbound.
Held at Fairfield by Marriott, the event was part of a series of live classical music performances known for enhancing the art of listening in intimate, candlelit settings. Having previously wowed audiences in cities such as Singapore, Tokyo, and Barcelona, Candlelight Concerts brought a solo piano performance to Vizag for the very first time, featuring the talented pianist and composer, Likhith Dorbala.
The evening kicked off on a high note with a beautiful rendition of Srivalli by Devi Sri Prasad, a globally beloved melody. After this, Likhith took a moment to engage with the audience, saying, “I’m so blessed to be pursuing music as my career. Let’s have some fun, Vizag!” He then followed up with another cherished piece, Samajavaragamana, composed by SS Thaman, further enchanting the audience.
The setlist, filled with deeply adored songs, paired perfectly with the marvelous ambiance. For the next hour, the crowd experienced a wave of emotions: joy from recognizing timeless tunes, awe at Likhith’s mastery on the piano, and a peaceful sense of serenity brought on by the soft, golden glow of candles elegantly arranged on the stage and scattered throughout the room.
Familiar classics such as Lata Mangeshkar’s iconic Lag Ja Gale, Harris Jayaraj’s soulful Vaseegara, the heartfelt Tum Hi Ho by Arijit Singh, and many more filled the air. Some listeners hummed along to their favorite songs, while others remained mesmerized by the music.
“It was fabulous. This is my first time in Vizag and India, and being exposed to Indian music through this show was so inspiring,” shared Olga, a visitor from Russia.
Many in the audience shared Olga’s excitement, especially when Likhith ended the Candlelight Concerts experience with a surprising rendition of the Academy Award-winning Naatu Naatu from RRR. The crowd erupted with energy, clapping and singing along in joyous unison.
The evening’s diverse repertoire, featuring songs in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and Tamil, celebrated the rich variety of music across India.
After the performance, Likhith Dorbala exclusively shared his thoughts with Yo Vizag: “It’s been a wonderful performance. It felt meditative and inspiring, especially when people began to sing along.” Hailing from Hyderabad, Likhith added with a smile, “I love Vizag for its beaches—something I don’t have back home—and I’m excited to explore the city more during my stay.”
