Bourgeois Guitars has expanded its Touchstone series with a new limited-edition model, the Hawaiian Country Boy/TS. Developed in collaboration with Eastman Guitars, this line caters to budget-conscious players seeking the premium craftsmanship and design expertise synonymous with Dana Bourgeois.
The Hawaiian Country Boy/TS offers the choice of dreadnaught or OO body sizes and builds upon the existing Country Boy Touchstone design. What sets this edition apart is its use of figured Hawaiian koa for the back and sides, sourced sustainably from the Big Island of Hawaii. Complementing the koa, the top features bearclaw sitka spruce, giving the guitar a uniquely textured appearance.
The production process involves meticulous oversight by Dana Bourgeois himself. He personally selects and voices the tops for each guitar, which are then sent to Eastman’s specialized luthier team overseas. These skilled craftsmen, trained by Bourgeois, assemble the bodies with precision before the instruments are shipped back to Maine for final inspection and setup at the Bourgeois workshop.
While pricing details for the Hawaiian Country Boy/TS are yet to be announced, it’s anticipated to be slightly above the $2,500 price tag of the standard Country Boy/TS, reflecting the premium materials and limited availability.
